John Carey

I’m a husband to Kathy and father of four, two boys and two girls. The boys and I started to attend Jeremiah Sportsmen events over a decade ago when Dave Iverson originally coined the group as “Eastview Christian Sportsmen” and invited some friends from church to join his outdoor adventures. Dave was the original founder, and since moved to TX, but instrumental in bringing people together. Over the past decade, the group migrated in scope beyond a single church and is non-denominational or any one specific church affiliated.
I’ve been with the Jeremiah Sportsmen for several years serving as treasurer after an invite to join the group by virtue of “hanging around too much, so you’re getting a spot”.

I have several outdoor passions that I’m marginally good at, but love to take in the marvel of God’s creation while I participate. Certainly hunting pheasant/deer and fishing for crappie with friends are among the tops. When I’m not on my motorcycle with Kathy, I might be following my youngest two daughters in their events, or working on a project around our little hobby farm north of Bloomington/Normal.
